TITLE : OIL MOVEMENT OF A MECHANICAL VALVE DURING OPERATION
BY : CHAM Consultancy Team - N Proumen

FOR : Dowty Aerospace Ltd

DATE : 1992

              PHOENICS Version : 1.6.6

DETAILS :
- Two-Dimensional, Transient flow
 - Polar Cylindrical computational grid

NOTES :
- PHOENICS predicts the oil movement and pressure distribution in the
bistable valve design for the A340 European Airbus main landing gear
 - Valve is designed for high level damping for normal landings and softer
    damping for heavier landings
 - PHOENICS was used to determine the forces acting on all internal surfaces
    of the valve during flow
 - This enabled the Dowty engineers create an optimum valve design option
